Rexine bags are popular because they offer a leather-like look and are generally easy to maintain. A few simple habits can protect the surface, hardware and shape of the bag for longer.
Clean dust gently
Wipe the bag with a soft, dry microfiber cloth after use. For light marks, use a slightly damp cloth and then dry the surface immediately. Test any cleaning method on a small hidden area first.
Avoid harsh cleaners
Bleach, strong detergents, alcohol-based cleaners and rough brushes can damage the finish or cause uneven colour. Do not soak the bag. If a stain does not lift with gentle cleaning, stop before repeated rubbing makes it worse.
Protect it from heat and moisture
Do not leave the bag in strong sunlight, beside a heater or inside a hot car for long periods. Excess heat can affect the surface and adhesives. If the bag becomes wet, blot it with a soft cloth and let it dry naturally in a ventilated place.
Store it with its shape supported
Empty the bag before storage and loosely fill it with clean, colourless tissue or soft fabric. Avoid newspaper because ink can transfer. Keep straps relaxed rather than sharply folded, and store the bag upright in a breathable dust bag or clean pillowcase.
Be careful with colour transfer
Dark denim and strongly dyed fabrics can sometimes transfer colour to lighter bag surfaces through repeated friction. Keep pens capped, cosmetics closed and liquids inside a separate pouch. Small precautions prevent the most common interior stains.
Look after metal hardware
Wipe chains, locks and decorative pieces with a clean dry cloth. Avoid perfume, hairspray and sanitizer directly on the hardware. When storing chain straps, wrap them in soft tissue so they do not press marks into the bag.
Rotate bags when possible
Using the same bag every day creates repeated stress on the handles, corners and base. Rotating between two everyday bags gives each one time to rest and helps preserve its shape.
